Knitting has been totally unappealing lately becase of the gorgeous weather here in San Francisco. I mean seriously, who wants to go to Dolores park and kick back a few beers with their friends while knitting a sweater? Not me.

I'm thinking I'll go to store and work on a few patterns I made up. I want to make a pink bikini with hot pants that will serve no purpose other than as a mere sample for loungewear. Plus it will be made of cashmere, so ultimate comfort and sexiness will be the utmost considerations. I also think I will make another one of those Rowan haltertops in linen drape if I can find any since they discontinued it. Today I will rock the hot pink angora sweater I made last fall. Perfect day for it!

Does anyone have a pattern for little felted shapes, like hearts and flowers? I know Leigh had one. Leigh? I'll email you. I'm thinking a small project for the bus. Yeah....

Good new knitting music of late:
- the owls (brian tighe from the hangups' amazing side project)
- grant lee phillips - viginia creeper
- the wrens - the meadowlands (thanks john)
- john vanderslice - cellar door
- the unicorns - who will cut our hair when we're gone (anyone like this? it's growing on me...)
- rickie lee jones - evening of my best day (can't stop listening to this one!)

A long overdue post, but really who checks in here??? No one probably...

The last few months have been knitty ones, but also very involving because I now have two jobs so working everyday keeps me away form the computer quite a bit. Alex came up from Long Beach for a week and we had quite a visit. He'd pick me up on the Harley from work and we'd go out on adventures. One day we did the 49 mile scenic route which was great despite the rain. My favorite day involved a trek along the Marin coastline ending up in Sausolito for drinks and a stroll and then back to fisherman's wharf to SCOMA'S for the BEST seafood saute and a beautiful bottle of wine. To top off the night we walked over to Buena Vista for my traditional after Scoma's Irish Coffee. I don't know if I have ever experianced a more beautiful tour of the city than one on a motorcycle. We drove all through the Marina, down and around Lombard, through North Beach... Breathtaking! I hated to see the precious time spent with him come to an end, but I'll be going to see him in a few weeks.

Generally, the New Year has been good. Knitting-wise, I finished all of the projects below with the exception of the Gingersol creation. Gingersol is Seth Rothschild and Steve Tagliere's band, and over a year ago they gave me this huge t-shirt they had produced which was large enough for a large man to fit in. Steve thought I would just use it as a nightshirt or something, but oh no, I had bigger plans! It's a basic shirt, but my favorite part is the back which has the name of their last release, a saying which means so much to me, summating my experience since having met G-Sol, "The trainwreck is behind you." I will post a picture of it when I'm finished, maybe I'll even model it... If it turns out the way I hoped, I will make one for Steve's wife. I know she'll love it. I would make one for Seth but I don't think he would wear it - the original t shirt looks so good on him :-) On the technical side, I will explain what this creation is:

It's a t-shirt turned into a tube top with a knit neckline and waistline in an off the shoulder style. It will have the viual apprearance of the knitty.com Spring '03 design called "cherries." I am just using that as a general description, mine is actually quite different because it doesn't have the stretch throughout due to the t-shirt bodice, but it is certainly fun to create... I can't wait to sew it up today and try it on. My roommates were laughing at me fitting my circulars over my head to see if the top portion would fit properly. It was quite a sight. I'm using this stretchy yarn by Cascade called "fxation." It's so cool!!! I feel a mohair project coming on after this elastic experience. Or maybe that cashmere thong we were joking about last winter??? Who knows... I'll keep you posted.

Anyway, much love and all my wishes for a happy and healthy New Year! Drop a line or post a comment should you so desire!

So this week has been a total bust in the knitting aspect of my life. I suppose after knitting four feet of mohair into that lovely shawl for the wedding I am beat! Still, I feel like I haven't really finished any of my projects. Seaming and neckbands are the hardest thing for me to get done...

This leaves me with the following to do list:
1) Take in the Rowan Linen Drape halter top ("Flame" in "Pewter") for Gina by two inches in the back. Go figure, it fits me perfect but it was HUGE on her. This is just a reseaming job because it won't affect the drape of the fabric...
2) Finish the scarf I am knitting for Emily. It's a variegated Rowan Biggy Print called "Joker." So cute, thick and cuddly, just like the one I made for myself. She'll need it for our cold San Francisco nights!
3) Graft the bottom of the Kidsilk Haze sweater I made ("Maggie" pattern in "Candy Doll"/hot pink). I knit it exactly to measurements but it is much to short to wear with my low slung trousers I love. Just one more inch and it will be perfect. So what I am going to do is take it apart at the bottom via a grafting technique and add a few rows between the ribbing and the top of the sweater in stockinette stitch. Should be interesting! I'll keep y'all posted on how that goes!
4) Finish the diamond pattern scarf I started last spring. It's a pretty burnt orange wool I got in Germany.

So I think the next week is planned out as far as knitting goes. I'm already looking at my Rebecca magazines and figuring out the next functional sweater I should make. Maybe I'll do that Rick Owens wrap hoodie I mentioned a bit ago. Somebody hold me back!

<img src="http://im1.shutterfly.com/procserv/47b3d601b3127cce8d52cf1905020000000610" border=0 "width=150" height=218 alt="Yay Gina!">

<img src="http://im1.shutterfly.com/procserv/47b3ce38b3127cce80380b4777520000000611" border=0 "width=150" height=218 alt="Way to go big bro!">

<img src="http://im1.shutterfly.com/procserv/47b3ce38b3127cce80380bef77fa0000000610"border=0 "width=150" height=218 alt="The way you look tonight!">

www.patrickandgina.com

G & P-Diddy are married! I also expected a lot of weed smoking and people on pills, but I got more groove and head bobbing than I expected. They full out rocked!! Let me just say that the hair on these guys has inspired me to create my own "I wish I had long curly hair to cover my face" creations. I'm thinking a little GGH Vamos or something else of the fuzzy/curly variety... Any ideas? Maybe we can put something up on knitty.com? They look great: white on black, "CALIN by Corie Ann." So now everyone who wears my stuff will be able to prove it! I stiched a few on projects, finished scarf ends and hats, and also my soon-to-be sister's halter top which is so sexy I want to keep it for myself! Hello sexy Hawaii halter top, hangin out with a Mai Tai in her low v-neck backless halter top! Go Gina!! I'll post a picture when the wedding stuff is over with - 9 more days!! Patrick & Gina's Wedding Site
I almost cried when I saw all the nice things people have said in the guestbook, check it!

I am just so excited about the wedding. I have this awesome red/rust/peach colored Sue Wong dress that is very drapey with a low back. I can't even describe it's beauty in words, too complicated of a dress! I'm getting a wild orchid to put in my hair, and the shawl will be perfect for the winery when the sun goes down. I can't wait to wrap up in it! I'm so glad I didn't get the Christian Dior dress I wanted because this one just came together perfect with the fall theme and it was a fraction of the cost. Someday I will find an occasion for a couture gown.... Anyway, back to projects: the shawl I am making is this great eyelet pattern I picked out of a German mag called rebecca, #24, pattern 10. It's this beautiful rust color in angora/mohair (GGH Kid Soft). It's very similar to Rowan's Kidsilk Haze, but the lack of silk gives it a little less sheen and makes the mohair cling together which can be annoying. It seemed thicker in texture, but as it knit up I noticed no difference at all. Well, I double stranded Kidsilk Haze, so maybe it is thicker! Whatever the case, this yarn is so gorgeous... The pattern is one of the most intricate I've done so far. I tried to watch "Tie Me Up, Tie Me Down" last night while knitting and I couldn't do it. Nothing with subtitles, please! Ha ha...

I feel like everything I do is knitting. I've just finished seaming up my future sister-in-law's halter top for the honeymoon, and now I'm working on a shawl to go with my dress for the wedding. I have eight days to get that done. I can do it!

I walked by Minnie Wilde and she has another vendor for her knits. They looked okay, very simple. I'm not convinced I should follow through with it, at least not this season. I still haven't received my labels from Australia yet.

I want to make this: Rick Owens Jumper
I think I can get some great black cashmere/merino yarn and crank that puppy out as a winter coat. So typically me. They sell little corduroy suits with knicker bottoms, and little tomboy outfits, kind of mod. I was knitting at the neighborhood cafe and the owner came by and expressed interest in carrying some of my tricots, like sweaters, caps and scarves, possibly fingerless gloves. I have to show her samples and color swatches. Kind of exciting. Does anyone know the specs on commissioned work? Email me. I still need to investigate the knitting machine and see if I would want to do that.

So Jackie Blue talked me into this weblog stuff...
